Jamie xx – probably not the easiest guy to cover. Because he didn’t play songs, photographers were allowed 10 minutes in the pit. The light? poor, mostly reds greens, and blues in monochromatic configurations, all behind the artist, making for some interesting silhouette shots. The hope was a shot of the disco ball illuminated behind him, though that didn’t happen until near the end of the set. I switched between a 70-200mm and 16-35mm lens. While it was a very challenging shoot, I think it gave me the extra freedom to exercise my creative license, hopefully in some way encapsulating the vibe of the night.
